Now the ladies.....
the first question was about tattoos. While Nathan was the only one with a real tattoo, Jewel said she has to fix her unicorn tattoo, mainly due to age damage.
Then, who got to keep what. Jewel got the hammock, and Alliance cash. Morena also got stage cash, but wished she'd got to keep some of her costumes. However, they're up for auction by the costume designer, Shawna Trpcic. One of the fans actually called Shawna, and Morena talked to her about it. As for
Summer, she got the boots.
Again, I don't have all the details, but I'm including some of the more interesting ones. For example, Morena admitted to having an interesting dream about Sean. It involved paparazzi and both of them in a scandalous position. Jewel, meanwhile, said Sean was a good kisser, and also smelled good.
Then they recalled high school. Both Summer and Jewel were home-schooled, since they both had other careers. Jewel had her acting roles. She was in high school for a couple of days, and thought the other teens were dumb. However, when Jewel got her own place, it was a popular party place. For Summer, it was mostly ballet for her. She said she was quiet and a bit eccentric, with a small circle of friends. Morena said she was shy in high school, but theater helped. Her family includes actors and directors, which is why she also got into acting.
Morena and Jewel then got into a interesting discussion over cooking. Both like the Food Network. Jewel was a big fan of Rachel Ray and her show about making 30-minute meals. (I prefer the $40-a-day show). Morena said cooking should take longer than 30 minutes, but their discussion was friendly. For Summer, she was a fan of another chef.
Jewel also talked about the "Middle Finger" battle with Nathan. She got the crowd at Dragoncon to give him the finger one time, while he later gave her a box...with the notorious finger inside. It doesn't stop there.
Despite her dancing roots, Summer said she's always wanted to be an actress. She once did a backyard spectacular when she was six...except it was way too cold at the time. She got sick, but it was worth it. She also talked more about how her dancing career changed when she broke her toe, yet still tried to dance on it. She also admitted she could have gone on to the Houston Ballet, a major company. Instead, she became a passenger on the Serenity.
So, what's next for them? Well, Morena says she'll be on The OC soon, while Summer and Jewel are reading scripts to see which role would be the best for them. Meantime, they would like to do a sequel to Serenity, but Morena hopes it will center on Inara this time.
Then, Nathan burst into the room, as if he was in the middle of a fight. He and the other guys come in later for the live commentary.of "Out of Gas". It's safe to say, it's the kind of commentary you'll never hear in a DVD set--but should.
The next day, we had a panel with Sean, Summer and Jewel. They talked about the sex scene near the end of the film between Kaylee and Simon. Sean said "it was a long time coming". They even talked abut the possiblity of Kaylee pregnant, which was interesting, to say the least.
Then Jewel talked about her episodes on Wonderfalls, where she played the cheating wife who wanted another chance. Sean revealed he almost got on the show, which surprised Jewel. Summer, interestingly, pictures River as captain of the ship. Well, she can learn how to fly on the fly.
She later recalled her audition. She first met Nathan, thinking he worked there. He remarked she shouldn't worry about him since they're not reading for the same part. She also said Mischa Barton of The OC was also up for River. As for her accent, Summer's British dialect from "Shindig" came from her audition from "Waiting in the Wings". She switched it to Russian by imitating her teachers. She was also asked if she'd keep up her martial arts trainnig to get ready for the movie. Her teachers thought she should, but Summer...not so much. Would be cool, though. She's Slayer material.
She went on to talk about the "River Tam sessions" and how they were put together quickly by Joss. Of course, the final product was impressive. If only they were on the DVD's
Then, they asked about Best and Worst roles. Sean recalled filming the remake to Brian's Song, while Jewel said she had a great time on a teen show from NBC called Just Deal. As for worst jobs, the stories got more interesting. Summer said she once played Snow White for birthday parties, but couldn't come up with any Snow White songs. Summer said her role on Stargate Atlantis was also tougher than she thought. Sean said his role on CSI Miami didn't work out because the energy was a bit off.
Then came the finale Sunday night. Some had to leave to catch their planes. Those who stuck around got a surprise. Nathan talked about someone who was, well, certain things you wouldn't really mention. Then, the surprise showed up.... |
