OK, let's be honest...these guys were the hit of the whole weekend. You usually saw the Bards everywhere, even by the pool trying to get some sun. As for me, I miss miss a few things....big things, because I wanted to see Jimmy Kimmel Friday night.
Sure, I saw Mary J. Blige, but I missed Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk..and Christina Hendricks. They were schmoozing with fans at the Pacific Grill, as Adam did the night before.
But, I did see Johnathan Woodward, who would also be a big part of the weekend

Mark A. Sheppard, alias Badger, was also there. These days, he is a meanacing ghost on Medium, and is also on Battlestar Galactica. If Buffy was still on the air, he'd make a great Watcher. Anyway, here he is sinking one of many shots that night.
Now, since Booster Events had to cancel the whole Flan, events had to go somewhere else. Fans were sworn to secrecy on where that would be, since they didn't want anyone else to find out. So, people were sent by bus or car pool to...
This is an interesting place. It has plenty of reception rooms where you can have a wedding reception, birthday party, or anything else. There's also a skating rink, and a bowling alley. If it had a gym and lots of hotel rooms, it would make a pretty good resort.
In any case, there was enough room for dealers who wanted to make the fans' wallets a lot lighter. With rare t-shirts, pictures, and a lot more, that task was very easy.
At the 2005 Flan, everyone had ID cards they wore around their necks. At the BBB, they just had orange wristbands, but they were quite valuable,. They identified you as one of those who kept the faith and was part of a very special event.
Greg Edmonson, who wrote the soundtrack for Firefly, was also there. He's also done work for King of the Hill, but he had lots of praise for the people behind Firefly. He said it was tricky to compose the soundtrack that complimented the scene. He also pointed out the show was unique because it presented both a post-apocalyptic world and a call back to our American heritage. That's how you make a space western that works. He also admitted that he cried when he heard the show was cancelled because he didn't want to let go of it.
Later that night, there was a party at Hollywood and Whitley. No cameras were allowed, but I can truthfully say I shook Niska's hand. Robert Fairman was there, along with Morena Baccarin. So was Nathan, but I didn't get a chance to talk. That place was crowded BIG TIME, but they had tasty samples of the food. See, the restaurant is owned by Claire Kramer (Glory from Buffy), and it's not ready for regular business. While I was there, it was the site for a few private parties. Once it officially opens, I'll stop by for lunch. Maybe I'll see her there.
I also learned about Dark Horse's future plans for Firefly, namely another mini-series, plus more about the new Buffy series cmoing in March (just in time for the 10th anniversary). I picked up two Serenity ornaments, and assorted eBay bait. I even won an extra "Done the Impossible" DVD. The producers of that gem said they sold 7000 DVD's, and even got it sold on Amazon.com. It's also part of the Beverly Hills High-Definition Film Festival in late December.
I also met Robert Lee, who's in the full Fruity Oaty Bar commercial that sets off River in Serenity. The full ad is in the extras of the DVD. He's also appeared in several episodes of
Babylon 5.
