When people gave the Big Damn Flanvention in Burbank, organized by Booster Events in December 2005, high marks for having most of the cast from Firefly/Serenity, plus a lot of fun, there were high hopes Flan 2 would be even better. Then, things got suspicious....two previously scheduled events were eiither cut back or cancelled, Nathan Fillion said on his blog he hadn't heard from the organizers, there were rumours Flan 2 would be cancelled, despite the fact it was sold out for weeks. Up until the last second, there were assurances the Big Damn Flan would happen. For me, I'd still make it a great vacation, mostly by getting into as many talk shows as possible. Then came the news....

What we needed were some thrilling heroics...and someBig Damn Heroes to save the day, and we got them!

Thanks to this group of people, the 300 or so people who were still in Burbank organized, at very short notice, an impressive Backup Bash that was still unforgettable. Some of the cast made appearances, some could not, but it was still a great show.

Many of the attendees gathered at the Airport Hilton in Burbank (a few days before it changed into a Marriott). The Bedlam Bards kept up their spirits through some songs, including some ballads about Joss and Jayne. Other fans gathered to share some war stories, and a determination to make this weekend a fun one

Adam Baldwin, the man they call Jayne (and also a suspcious FBI agent on Day Break), was the first cast member to join the fans. This was a great surprise to many, and not the last one, either.

There was also a display of some of the wardrobe used in Serenity and Firefly. The owners of these items were happy to show them off several times that weekend. We were advised not to use flash because the light would affect the clothing, but these pictures came out great....
